Today I’m giving away a  $100 gift certificate from barley& birch! This company is the home of “unabashedly organic, planet-saving clothes” and just won the 2010 Parent’s Choice Award for Best Organic Clothing.

Learn more about this this amazing clothing company and how to win the gift certificate.

This company, founded in January 2009 by Kyle Smitley, is only in its second year of business, but you could safely say that they are going great places and setting the standard for natural and organic clothing businesses. In a world where the term “green” has become trendy, it is reassuring to know that for barley & birch the term is taken seriously.

Some facts about
barley&birch:

  • They are a childrens’ clothing line made from 100% certified organic cotton.
  • They have ensured that every component of the line grows, originates, and occurs in the United States. Their cotton is grown, milled, dyed, and sewn withing 100 miles of each other. Their pigments are grown in small farms in the midwest.
  • They donate at least 15% of their profits to various grassroots organizations in order to fully offset every ounce of carbon that results from all aspects of running barley&birch, from the electricity to run the computers to the shipping to their customers.
  • They donate at least another 15% to groups around the world working hard to improve the lives of others. This includes everything from funding schools in Central America to providing shelter to victims of abuse in Haiti.
  • barley & birch just  launched their new online store Nov.1st, and are running a super sale in order to celebrate.
