Block Party Giveaway: Mama Goes Green – LunchBots and LunchSkins

We are celebrating this sizzling season with some hot giveaways! Our friend and virtual neighbor Mama Goes Green is kicking off the block party by giving Simple Kids readers a chance to win a wonderful gift package.

If you’ve been reading Simple Kids for a while then you know that we are big fans of eco-friendly lunch containers. My family has been using LunchBots stainless steel reusable containers and Lunchskins reusable bags as an alternative to plastic.

These containers have been traveling with us on family outings, long car trips, and, of course, in our lunchboxes.

I appreciate that they are dishwasher safe (top rack), are healthier than using plastic containers for food storage, and that I don’t have to spend money buying plastic baggies or lunch containers.

They are stylish, with a simple design that appeals to grown-ups as well as kids. The lids of the LunchBots are bright and colorful with a non-VOC finish. The lids fit tightly on the containers, too (though I wouldn’t use them for liquid storage).

The Lunch Skins are made from a German fabric that is certified as food safe in the US and Europe.  They are hand-sewn, well made, durable and bpa, lead, and phthalate free.  I may never buy plastic baggies again!

  2. We live in HI and picnic all the time on the beach, which means packed lunches. I tend to go for what is easy to prepare and easy to eat on the sand, so it is usually sandwiches and a side of something like veggie chips or carrot sticks.

My daughter’s favorite lunch is a bread roll with organic american cheese and all natural deli ham, with some pirate booty or grilled cheese puffs thrown in for some crunch and a fruit or yogurt. I thought she would be tired of it after a year of kindergarten, but she still asks for it every day. Thanks for the giveaway.

    I would use the Lunch bot to pack my son’s favorite sandwich – peanut butter on a bagel.

  15. I try to do a weekly “picnic in the park” with my girls during spring and summer. The lunch container gift package would be perfect for these outings and we would fill them up with our favorite portable lunch items: ham or turkey and cheese roll-ups, fruit and Pirate’s Booty.

  21. My daughter is starting preschool this fall and I have been looking at all kinds of lunch containers. I love that all of these items are reusable, and free of toxic materials such as BPA and phthalates! One of my daughters favorite lunch items is hummus with carrot sticks.

  26. These are awesome! We homeschool, but we’re always on the go and packing lunches! my husband brings his lunch to work every day as well. All of these containers would be so much fun and useful to have.
    We’re big PB&J people, that’s my oldest daughter’s favorite lunch item.

  37. Munchkin’s favorite lunch food is cheese and beans. I would use the lunch supplies for packing picnics, and packing my husband’s lunch.

  38. Well, my daughter’s favourite lunch item is tuna wraps, which would be great in one of those containers. Her school is litter-free, so they would really come in handy there!

    My daughter likes any kind of fruit and graham crackers for lunch. I work part time at my church next door and we eat our lunch there every day. So it would be great to be able to take our lunch in these containers.

    I would love this! My daughter loves pick-picks (picnics) and we have them quite often throughout the year! We usually pack a sandwich to share, some grapes, a yogurt, and a special treat like pretzels or healthier animal crackers or such. We also bring watermelon or other seasonal fruits we have on stock.

  46. My dd starts kindergarten this fall, these would be awesome for me to pack her lunch in…she’d get a tuna salad in pita bread sandwich, grapes, and a cookie.
