A Child’s Christmas: Holiday Songs & Carols from Susie Tallman and friends

The following is by contributor Jennifer of Swing Whistle Zing.

We add at least one new album (if not more) to our Christmas collection every year.  It’s a part of the season I really look forward to, and it’s an inexpensive way to give yourself a little gift that you’re sure to enjoy no matter how hectic things get.

However, finding children’s Christmas music the whole family can enjoy can be challenging.

I know my kids tend to latch on to an album that reinforces their excitement for the upcoming season, so we have to choose carefully.  We will be listening to it over and over.

A Child’s Christmas

We have no complaints, however, over listening to Susie Tallman’s A Child’s Christmas * Holiday Songs and Carols in the over and over category.

With 42 tracks and over an hour’s worth of music this is album is chock full of holiday fun.  Susie has carefully crafted a collection of family friendly holiday tunes, old and new.

With a style that reminds me of a good stage show soundtrack, her renditions of the holiday classics are sung with the talent and enthusiasm of an enjoyable Broadway show. They’re catchy and easy to sing along with, while produced with kids in mind.

My six-year-old especially enjoyed the amusing collection of bonus holiday jokes peppered throughout the album.   Also included is an adorable story of “Willy the Wombat’s Christmas Adventure” that’s a perfect distraction for a short car ride.

Susie is an accomplished, award winning artist who takes her love for creating children’s music to heart through her focus on encouraging parents to make music fundamental in their child’s life.  Her website is a fabulous resource for basic information on how music enhances the lives and development of children.

In fact a portion of proceeds from the sale of her music goes to support music education for children.

She is currently celebrating the release of her eighth album Animal Songs & Stories.  A collection of traditional toddler friendly animal inspired tunes.  Which I am thrilled to tell you that three lucky Simple Kids readers have an opportunity to win along with A Child’s Christmas * Holiday Songs and Carols .

  1. We typically pick a holiday Pandora station in the morning, and listen to it most of the day. Everything from Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas, to classic holiday, or the Glee Christmas channel. That way there seems to be some variety. But, in the car, well that is a different story. We have “Zat you, Santa Claus?” on a constant loop.
