We are absolutely up to our eyeballs in glittery sugar and swirly ribbons and holiday cards and all manner of Christmas business in our home this week.  To be very honest, I’ve really not had much time at all for blog reading, so I’m afraid I don’t have any weekend links to share today.

I do, however, want to open up the Showcase to you this week. I know so many of you have shared incredible recipes, posted precious pictures, and published inspiring words this month.

I would be honored if you would take a minute to share your link in the comments!

What would you like to showcase this week?

mmm those cookies look great! I’m not sure what I would showcase, actually! I recently wrote about travel tips that might be helpful for those traveling over Christmas. http://www.mamanotes.com/2009/12/traveling-by-plane-with-kids-tips.html and this post was fun and has been pretty popular. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

The latest thing I published on my frugal living/homemaking blog was how to make homemade bath salts. Great gift and really easy to make! Merry Christmas!!

I found this quote the other day and it stuck out:
Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love.
::: Hamilton Wright Mabie :::

I have also been inspired this month by the blog Peanut Blossom. She has introduced me to try trans-seasonal decorating, has provided me wonderful holiday tunes on Tuesdays, and has been an all around holiday inspiration.

Cheers to the two “simple moms” who have brought a little extra joy and simplicity into the season.

I want to show you some last-minute-card-ideas. It’s really easy to create them and it is much more personal than buying them.
Have fun with it!

My most recent link (below) is all about dealing with stress, which unfortunately creeps in now and again at holiday time!

I wrote a post about the combination of a three year old, strawberries and melted chocolate. The experience gave me a good laugh, and certainly took the edge off some pre-Christmas stress:

Quite by accident I seemed to hit a nerve with this post this week and not just with moms of many but all moms seem to be having trouble with raising kids in an adult world: http://www.se7en.org.za/2009/12/15/children-are-people-too-se7en-gripes

I made Crunchy the Snowman this week for my daughter’s pre-school class. They were fun to make and the kids loved them! http://marbleandmud.blogspot.com/2009/12/crunchy-snowmen.html

I just stumbled upon this blog through a link and i had to giggle when i saw the picture of the cookies because they look just like the ones my 3 yo daughter and i made today. Hope u don’t mind me sharing a thought:

I was challenged today to make a choice between perfectionism or simplicity shared with my young daughter. That pedantic monster within me wanted to make sure that all the cookies were decorated evenly and tastefully, but my sweet little girl was having a ball as her pink icing covered fingers generously threw sprinkles all over the cookies, bench and floor. At the end of the creation, we were both sticky and sugary and the cookies didn’t bear the faintest resemblance to the Martha Stewart ones that inspired us, but I was reminded of a valuable lesson of what really matters in life. Perfect cookies or a happy little girl filled with fun memories with her mummy.

I am thankful for these simple and messy blessings.

I’ve got two of the things you mentioned all wrapped in one. I combined some precious pictures (of my sister’s) with some inspiring quotes to create a new Sunday feature that just makes me so very happy. I’ve never done anything on my blog that I come back to and read as much as this. (In fact, I’ve enjoyed matching quotes to her pictures so much that I have posts written up and scheduled all the way through March.) I also did a fun little project… drizzled some cooked sugar in the shape of Christmas trees to hang in the window as decorations.
