A peek behind-the-scenes

Febdesknotes

First of all, I want to take a few moments to thank you all for the way you received last week’s Friday Five post about some of my more humbling parenting moments.

I was a bit nervous to hit “publish” on that one, but right away SK readers let me know I had nothing to fear in opening up. I guess if we can hang out together and talk about potty seats and curse words, well, then we can probably talk about just about anything together, can’t we?

And, seriously?  Some of your comments had me laughing so hard!  Thank you for sharing them.  Laughter is certainly the best medicine when you’re feeling a bit humbled by this whole parenting gig, isn’t it?

So, here’s to more laughter, less judgement, and less guilt  – and to just enjoying it all!

Second,  I want to apologize that the blog has been silent for a few days.  I’ve been using my blogging time for tinkering with some things behind the scenes.

New at Simple Kids

You regular readers might notice a few changes here at Simple Kids, especially if it has been a while since you’ve been to the blog (I know most of you read via email or a feed reader).  There are some things missing and a few things that are new.

Among other things, I’ve given the Unplugged Play and Want.Need.Wear.Read. ongoing series their own buttons in the sidebar so that their archives are easy for you to find when you need them.  I plan to do this for Ages and Stages soon, as well. (We’re working on borrowed time during naps over here, so you’ll have to be a little patient with me).

I’ve also added an Inspirations category, and coming soon (as I have free time this week), those of you who are curious what blogs, books, podcasts, and music inspire me and my family will be able to look in the sidebar and see what we are currently in to.

In some ways I’m starting over here on the blog, really trying to get back to my roots as a writer and as a mother.  I want what you see in this space to reflect that, and at the same time, I want it to be a reflection of me as I simplify and refine my focus.

I’m continuing to make little adjustments here and there and I hope you like it.

I hope your week is off to a terrific start!
