I am so excited to announce that Simple Kids contributor and author Rae Grant has a new book coming out today – Homemade Fun: 101 Crafts and Activities to Do with Kids.

My family has thoroughly enjoyed Rae’s first two books in this series, Cooking Fun and Crafting Fun, and I can tell you that her third book is just as delightful!

Within moments of Homemade Fun‘s arrival at our house, my oldest daughter was in her closet with a flashlight trying out the shadow puppets and impressing her younger brother with her birds, dogs, and deer. We’re already planning that our next Family Friday Night will include Rae’s recipe for cheese pizza.

The book is divided into six sections:

I have always appreciated that the recipes and crafts Rae shares are so fun and creative AND can be made with objects and ingredients you probably already have around the house.  Rae shares with readers her gift for taking a few simple, ordinary things and turning them into something truly delightful!

    I already had planned to try the bubbles after the post about Rae’s bubble recipe on Simple Kids. My daughter is still a baby, so that is one of the most appropriate activities for her now anyway.

  27. Oooh, oooh, I really want a copy of that! My Mom was the best when I was little at helping us make little crafts and do-it-yourself things from everyday objects. I would love to have this book as a reference to help my little ones grow up learning the same skills 🙂

    I’ve been looking for ideas on blowing bubbles with homemade items, so that’s what I’ll be trying with my two year old. I never thought of using a funnel!
