Well, here we are friends:  less than 100 days before Christmas.  Have you started your holiday crafting yet?   What gifts are you going to be making for your kids this year?

Holiday Kids’ Gift Craft-along

It is the 25th of September, which means it is time for our monthly Holiday Kids’ Gift Craft-along link up.  I’d love to see what you are making and how your projects are progressing.

I’m taking the day as a North Pole Day and I’ll be updating facebook, twitter, and instagram all day long with my crafting endeavors.  If you want to join in, I’m using the hashtag #SKcraftalong.

I plan to play some holiday music and maybe watch a holiday movie or two and knit, stitch, and glue the day away  (well, after homeschool and when I’m not taking care of the kiddos, of course) – yes, I’ll be crafting the day away in my own little North Pole (in Indy, on a rainy day in September).  There’s going to be cocoa at some point, too.

Beyond today, I’m trying to dedicate 15 minutes every day toward working on holiday gifts.

Some days I find myself with a little more time on my hands, some days with a little less.  But, bit by bit the gift pile is growing and I’m happy with how things are going so far.

I’m still hoping to be totally finished with handmade gifts by December 1 this year.

Looking for ideas?

I’ve started a Pinterest board to collect homemade gift ideas for kids that I’m adding to nearly every day.  You can check it out here:  Homemade Holiday Kids’ Gifts.

I’ve got a few posts from holidays past in the archives that you can check out, too:

My projects this month

Today I’m working on knitting some more farm animals for my four year old’s Christmas stocking.  I’m using the book Toymaking with Children by Freya Jaffke.

I’m also working on an adorable hand-stitching kit from Threadfollower, envisioning a little cutie for my oldest daughter’s Christmas stocking.  (Note:  hand-stitchers, there’s a  Threadfollower giveaway going on at Rockin’ Granola you might want to check out).

I’ve still got a felt super hero mask to finish up, too.

What about you?  What are you working on this month?

  1. I am just starting my Christmas planning now. I have made one hat and one pair of mittens (from the new taproot magazine pattern), so I am on my way :-)

    • Isn’t the new Taproot awesome? Well, okay, they are all pretty wonderful issues so far :-)

Sounds like you’re doing great, Heather! Thanks for linking up!

      Best wishes!

  2. Great idea! I think 15 minutes a day is achievable.

  3. I am making the first edition of our journey books for our grandchildren. These will document the journeys and discoveries we have made together this past year. I hope/plan to make them each year for them. I always wanted to do this for my children and never got them made.

  4. Love your blog! I am always busy making hair accessories for others. After seeing your blog, I’m going to make more of the headbands I linked for my 8 year old. She LOVES them, but was not happy when I told her they were for my etsy shop. I also have some doll headbands I need to make for my girls’ AG dolls. I love the idea of making things for Christmas. Thanks for the linking up!
