Welcome to a new feature here on Simple Kids: Kiddin’ Around, where I will share different activities, games, crafts, and links the kids and I have loved each week.
Right now my kids are ages 2, 5, 7, and 12. Here’s what we’ve been up to this week and how we’ve been kiddin’ around:
Music: Grandpa’s 45s – we spent the weekend at my parents’ place for the Easter holiday and my Dad showed Jillian his collection of 45s. It wasn’t long before we had two DJs spinning Lollipop, I’m a Mummy, Charlie Brown, and more for us on the record player and a little impromptu family dance party. Who knew we had so many cool cats in our family? Some things span all generations, don’t they?
Watching: Arthur’s Outdoor Week – my son Max is a huge fan of Arthur (as was his sister Jillian before him) and he’s been really excited about the outdoor themed episodes this week. His other favorite PBS Kids show is Wild Kratts. Are you sensing a theme with this boy of mine? If you’re interested, you can catch the last day of Arthur’s Outdoor Week by checking your local television listing for the PBS station near you or you can head to the PBS Kids website here.
Very, Very Pinteresting – my kids and I are interested in trying out this Homemade Chalk Paint recipe, shared by Mandi of Life Your Way’s 8 year old daughter.
Things to Eat and Drink – I grabbed this salad book on Kindle a few weeks ago (note: it was free when I snagged it and I see it is $2.99 currently) and we’ve been trying two salads a week from it for the past two weeks. My family really loved the Strawberry Spinach salad we tried this week. Perfect for spring and making this mama excited because soon we’ll be able to gather the main ingredients right from our own garden.
Games – we’ve had a string of rainy days, which is lovely for our flowers, and has brought about a renewed interest in the box game which is a nice, quiet game to play when you’ve got a rainy afternoon to pass.
What We’re Reading – My 12 year old has been happily sewing away since Wednesday afternoon thanks to Nicole’s Sewing 101 ebook. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying Lisa’s Happy Mom, Healthy Family workshop, which I started after I purchased my copy of the Ultimate Homemaking eBook Bundle. I also dug into You Can Read from Carissa at 1+1+1=1 and am excited to use it in our homeschool.
I’m going to go ahead and call those 3 things right there totally worth the price of the bundle at $29.97 – and you get SO much more with your purchase! If you’re thinking about even just a handful of the titles included, I’d encourage you to grab a copy of the bundle before the sale is over.
