Little Acorn Learning September Afterschool Guide and Autumn Menu Giveaway

Those of you who have been following Simple Kids or Rockin’ Granola, know what a huge fan I am of Eileen Straiton’s Little Acorn Learning childcare guides.  I’m so excited because today Eileen is generously offering a giveaway of one of her new Afterschool Guides and an Autumn Menu!

This giveaway is now closed.  Thank you!

September Afterschool Guide

The afterschool guides were created to help parents and caregivers create a healthy, rhythmic, and peaceful home for their school aged children.

The guides are designed for use with children attending traditional school, Waldorf school, private school, childcare centers, or with homeschooled children.  They are a tool for extending learning after school and on the weekends.

From the Little Acorn Learning website:

Our goal is to reconnect children with nature while supporting the caregiver’s soul – helping providers find true meaning and purpose in their work with young children.  We inspire a love for nature and the home arts.”

The September Afterschool guide is an e-book pdf file containing four weeks of stories, handwork, and learning enrichment – a $22.99 value.

Autumn Menu

The Autumn childcare menu was developed by a professional nutritionist and Waldorf kindergarten teacher and is a menu for a week’s worth of recipes intended to be rotated throughout the season.

Each day includes a recipe for breakfast, two snacks, and lunch.

“Autumn, the days are getting cooler, and the harvest is in full swing. We can find fresh vegetables and apples, pears and nuts everywhere. Children are hungry for warming grains, sweet fruits and hardy vegetables. Here you will find plenty of inspiration to keep your menus as vibrant as the Fall colors.”

The Autumn Nourishment Childcare Menu is a pdf file, valued at $12.99.

  1. OK, this is NOT an entry–I won the September daytime guide and a menu plan from the One Small Change blog last month, and I’d feel terrible winning another Little Acorn Learning guide when someone else should, LOL. I just wanted to say that I really, really like the plans, how they’re written, and the supplemental material. They’re really “full” in the sense that they offer so much to pick and choose from–you likely will not do all the suggested activities. I’m happy enough with them that I’m planning to order the next ones to do with my two and four year olds.

  2. Aaron Larson says:

I love the sound of crunching leaves, walking thru fallen leaves and listening to them rustling and playing in huge leaf piles.

  3. Since Autumn is my favorite season by far here in Nebraska…there are too many to choose from. We love doing the annual Applejack Festival (NE City, NE, home of Arbor Day!) which is a huge apple-picking, eating (even apple SLUSHIES!), carmel apple buying extravaganza.
But the weather during the autumn is just truly beautiful and peaceful here during this season!
These two items look so great, thanks for the offer!

  4. I love EVERYTHING about autumn! Its my favorite! I love all the activities that go along with it: apple-picking, raking/jumping in leaves, hay rides, and gorgeous weather. Love it!

  5. I love the changing colours, the temperature, jumping into big piles of leaves and less or no mosquitoes or other biting bugs that plague us in the summertime.

  6. There is so much to love about all of the season changes, but most especially, for Autumn, I love the crisp mornings, when my children and I wake up and snuggle under throw blankets on the sofa together.

  7. Oooh, fall weather and fall menus, yummy. I love those fall mornings when you wake up to a chill in the house but bright light and the promise of a warm day to come.

  8. My favorite thing about fall is walking through the dried up leaves and making them rustle. I could do that all day long.

  9. The crisp leaves crunching underfoot, the gorgeous, colorful trees and the apple orchard. Fall is my favorite season :)

  10. I love the sugar maple leaves turning red and orange, apple picking, choosing a pumpkin for a jack-o-lantern and making maple sugar cookies, cut into leaf shapes. Fall is my favorite season, too!

  11. My favorite thing about Autumn is the smell in the air. I love it, and every year anticipate the change in the air to where you can actually smell how crisp it is! Living in central NY, we are in no short supply of wonderful color changing leaves either.

  13. For me it’s definitely all the changes from the previous season. It’s a feast for the senses to be outside in fall: crisp air, trees that look different every day, the breezes that change, how you go from colder pockets of air to sun-warmed ones, the birds migrating. It feels so exciting and alive.

  31. My favorite thing about autumn is that the world seems to beb slowing down…we tend to take more walks in the leaves, do more baking and canning and generally just reconnect after a long busy summer! My little ones and I are in full swing of all that…30 lbs of apples are currently waitin to be made into applesauce to be used this winter! :)
