What is on Your Mother’s Day Wish List?

Yesterday I shared with you my hope to document the ordinary moments this Mother’s Day, but that is only part of my plan.  I have a few other things items on my wish list for Sunday, including:

  • Sleeping in past 7 a.m.
  • A recreation of that gorgeous breakfast from Simple Bites, pictured above, down to the very last crumb: How to Have Peace, Serenity, AND Breakfast in Bed on Mother’s Day.
  • Some time with my Spring Reading Thing list and the latest Simple Living Media Book Club title.
  • Lunch with my Mom, Sister, Grandmother, and extended family.
  • Hugs, kisses, and (while I’m wishing) good manners and no bickering from my children.
  • To laugh a lot, all day long.
  • To accept the praise and attention of those who love me.  Mother’s Day is the day to say, “Yes, I am doing an amazing job here, aren’t I?” I’d love it if you could give yourselves permission to do that, too my friends.

“Even the most courageous warriors need to remember this simple wisdom: there is a time to take on the world and a time to rest, replenish, and reflect.”

- Jillian Klarl

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms who take on the world every day on behalf of their children! May this weekend bring you a time to rest, replenish, and reflect.

My wish list includes laughing until we cry over a meal that I didn’t have to prepare and a whole uninterrupted hour with a book!

My husband and I are in the midst of building a new home. He has been working there every hour that he’s not at his day job for the last 4 months. So I’ve been on daughter duty, and working extra hours at my job too. I’m hoping for him to take the day off from the house so we can spend some time together with our girl.
And to not have to change any diapers all day long :)

Ah, yes, a day off from diaper duty is something I’m hoping for, too :-)

Hope you get that day together, Alicen!
Best Wishes!

I’m thinking a pedicure has to be on the list for me. Quiet time in a massage chair while some one else pampers me. Perfection!

I noticed that Simple Organic has a list of green ideas for Moms:

I may have to treat myself ;-)

I’ll gladly cook on Mother’s day, but if the dishes just so happened to be clean after I’d be thrilled! And perhaps an hour or two behind a closed door to be with my scrapbooking would make my day. I have a wonderful family so there isn’t much to ask for, and we don’t do large celebrations but to not do my most hated chore for a day AND to do the one thing I wish I could every day would be amazing. Hope everyone has lots of smiles celebrating motherhood!

I like all of the suggestions for mother’s day! I wish to only change sleep past 9am, as I have 1 year teething baby and I am so sleep deprived that I do funny things during day without trying. Need more sleep to get back being human again.

A clean house. Truly. I’d love to walk downstairs after breakfast in bed and have the toilets cleaned, the floors vacuumed, the dishes done, and the laundry folded. I can relax so much more easily knowing those things have been checked off.

Reality check though? Maybe one of those chores checked off. And my family together, with no arguing or whining. :)

Trying not make a sob story out of it, but I’d actually love for my husband to be home for mother’s day this year. Not going to happen though! Last year he missed mothers day because he was deployed to Iraq and this year he’s being sent to the Netherlands for some big deal Army thing, *sigh*

I am looking forward to spending a fun date at the park with my little boy! And perhaps going to our favourite local cafe for lunch. We’re going to be having an awesome mother and son day :)

That doesn’t sound like a sob story and I’m sorry it hasn’t happened for you for the past two years. I pray you get your wish next Mother’s Day!

Thank you for the sacrifices your family has made and I hope it was an awesome mother/son day :-)

My husband just asked me last night what I wanted for Mother’s Day. I gave him my aloof response of ‘I don’t really care’ (even though I’m ecstatic that he brought this up). Racing through my head at this opportunity to score on a great gift for ME and only ME, I halt to a persistent idea of a DAY TO MYSELF! Who knew I was such a minimalist? It was not the cute, beyond my daily budget purse from TJ MAXX, or jewelry or flowers… but rather a day that I could choose to do whatever I want. Maybe I’ll stay in my pj’s all day, or go to the movies, or use the gift cards I’ve been meaning to use on myself, or… and I think this is where I am leaning towards… craft all day with no one around!
Happy Mother’s Day everyone!

Well my daughter and I are suffering from a stomach bug, so my wish would be to recovery from that and maybe a nice breakfast”simple” and some crafting or outside time!!

I’m living it! I asked for a little time alone in the morning (they are out getting some scones and hot chocolates) and a nap in the afternoon. :)

Kara

Sounds wonderful, Trish! :-) Isn’t is nice when wishes come true?

This article reminds me of what I must do this Mother’s Day. After reading the whole article, I think I’ll do something extraordinary for my mother this time. Hopefully it will be successful.
