Friends, there are many reasons that I love writing for SLM and things like this are one of them. My heart has been flip-flopping ever since I found out about this opportunity. Pure Charity provided funds for me to facilitate this post and I’m really excited to share with you what that allowed me to do as far as giving to our CSP.
This Child Survival Program, or CSP, needs $25,000 per year to operate. As a blog network, SLM draws over one million unique visitors monthly. As Tsh said, just think: what if everyone who visited our sites gave a dollar? Just think of what that could mean for these mamas and their babies!
Here’s the thing, friends: you can help us raise the funds to help this CSP by doing something that I would bet you are going to do anyway this holiday season.
Keep reading and I’ll share with you how …
One of our family holiday traditions is new pajamas on Christmas Eve. My kids get a new pair of pjs every year, just like I received a new pair of pajamas every year when I was growing up. It’s a family tradition.
A few weeks ago I made my purchases for this year’s pajamas (ironically while wearing pj’s myself) by shopping on the Target website. I sipped my morning coffee, added the goods into my cart, and ta da! One more item checked off of Santa’s list this year.
I also ordered a few stocking stuffers and picked up some things from my kids’ wish lists. (Forgive the dark photo, I was hiding in the closet trying to be sneaky and hoping my kids wouldn’t catch me.)
I got some of my holiday shopping done, something I was going to do anyway, but guess what? A percentage of my purchase went to my Pure Charity giving account! Cool, right?
And all I had to do was first click on the Target store portal through Pure Charity. When this happened, Target gave some money to my Pure Charity account. Making purchases through Pure Charity allows me to direct those funds to wherever I want, and I’m going to give them to our CSP in Ethiopia.
Want some more details? It would be worth a few minutes of your time to watch this short video from Pure Charity that explains the simple, but wonderful, process that allows this shopping/donating circle to happen:
And there you have it. You’re doing something you were already going to do this holiday season anyway and now you’re also helping to fund a pretty incredible charity.
Ready to get a Pure Charity account and join us?
If you haven’t already done so, please sign up for a free Pure Charity account. You can do it via Facebook or the “regular” way, it makes no difference. By using this link provided, you become part of SLM’s advocate network (this way, you can easily follow all of us and the other people helping to support this CSP).
Then, you just start shopping. Do this one of two ways:
1. Head here, click on “Shop Online,” and you’ll see the extensive list of Pure Charity partners. If you’d like some ideas to get you started, all of the SLM blogs will be sharing today what purchases we made. The list of stores participating is a long one – something for everyone.
2. Or, you can install the plugin for your Internet browser. Then, whenever you’re at one of the partners’ sites, you’ll automatically see the Pure Charity logo on the site. When you see that logo as you shop it means a percentage of your purchase will automatically go to your giving account.
Note: sometimes stores will disable the plugin for whatever reason, particularly during the holidays. So if you don’t see the Pure Charity logo on the site, use the first shopping method, mentioned above.
Phase One: raise $6,250
This CSP requires $25,000 annually to operate, so Compassion has divided its needs into four phases. Phase one needs to be completed by February 28, 2013.
Friends, I just know that together we can do this.
If you want part of your holiday shopping to go to your Pure Charity giving account, then head here to start shopping. Once your rewards show up (the percentages from your purchases), you can point them to whatever giving project you like. You know, like our CSP in Ethiopia or another cause near and dear to your heart.
Or, if you don’t want to wait, you can give $5 or more RIGHT NOW. I did this a few days ago and it was a very easy process.
What an easy way to give to a worthwhile charity! Doing something you were already going to do this holiday season anyway and you get a chance to make a positive impact in the world. Does it get any better than this?
So, listen, I know that there are lots of you out there reading this and I thank you. Can I ask you to do me one more favor? Share this post with your friends, help us widen the circle of influence, and spread the word about Pure Charity and the CSP in Ethiopia and how we can come together to make a real difference for these mamas and their babies. Thank you, friends!
