Weekend links

We have had a nice, quiet weekend so far.  The temperatures have taken another dip down, so we haven’t been outdoors as much as we would like to be, but we’ve found plenty to keep us occupied with indoors – like blocks, books, and baby dolls.

pancakeJillianYesterday my husband got up early and surprised our oldest daughter with a daddy/daughter date at the pancake restaurant.  He snapped a picture with his phone and sent it to me so that I could see her smile.

With an almost five year age difference between Jillian and the little kids, it is important to Christopher and I that she gets some one on one time with each of us so that she knows we love her and value her, too (even though it might seem like the louder, less independent younger kids eat up a lot of our attention).

Plus, pancakes twice in one week?  Who wouldn’t love that?

Worthwhile Reads:

For those of you who are fans of PBS Kids, I wanted to mention that on Monday February 18th there will be a Dinosaur Train special.  We got a chance to preview this Submarine Adventure and it was pretty cute.  Check your local listings for the air time.

Also, I wanted to tell you about a blog I’ve recently discovered that I have been really enjoying and that I think you might like, too.  It is called Bliss Beyond Naptime.

We’ve got company coming for a visit today, so I should scoot off of here and get this lovely Sunday started.

Have a fantastic weekend, everyone!

  1. Love the new look around here, Kara! Happy weekend to you. xo

  2. Love the daddy/daughter pancake date! We do the same with C from time to time….quite often a nachos or Starbucks date after his tutoring. We also have a 5 yr break between oldest and littles and it’s good for the big kid to be able to get out with just Mom or Dad :)
And I LOVE the pic of Lucy and Amelia!! You can almost hear the giggles :) Have a great Sunday, friend!!

  3. I always loved my daddy dates and remember them fondly. Jillian looks so much like you in this picture, Kara! Wishing you a great week ahead.
